Besan Chilla (Gram Flour Pancake)

A healthy Indian breakfast or light meal made with besan.

🧾 Ingredients

  • 1 cup Besan (Gram Flour)

  • 1 small Onion (finely chopped)

  • 1 small Tomato (finely chopped)

  • 1–2 Green Chilies (finely chopped)

  • 2 tbsp Coriander leaves (chopped)

  • ½ tsp Turmeric powder

  • ½ tsp Red chili powder

  • ½ tsp Carom seeds (Ajwain)

  • Salt to taste

  • Water (as needed to make batter)

  • Oil or ghee (for cooking)

 

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Take besan in a bowl.

  2. Add onion, tomato, green chilies, coriander, turmeric, red chili powder, ajwain, and salt.

  3. Add water slowly and make a smooth, medium-thick batter (like dosa batter).

  4. Heat a non-stick pan and lightly grease it.

  5. Pour a ladle of batter and spread it gently into a circle.

  6. Cook on medium flame until golden brown, then flip.

  7. Cook the other side till crisp.

  8. Serve hot.
